The ES , RX , GX , and LX are. I'm not sure of others.

(As far as the US market)
ES = Camry
RX= Highlander
LX= Land Cruiser
IS, GS, LS are RWD monsters. Not very Toyota like :]

Yes!
The ES350 is an Avalon (previously Camry), and the LX570 is a Land Cruiser. Also, the GX is called Toyota Land Cruiser Prado outside the US and Canada. The GS, IS, LS, and RX were sold as Toyota Aristo, Altezza, Celsior, and Harrrier, respectively, until Lexus came to the JDM.

The CT is based on the MC platform used by the Corolla, the HS (still sold in some markets) is based on the Avensis and Corolla Axio, the ES is based on the Avalon, the GS is closely related to the Crown, the RX is closely related to the Highlander, I believe, the GX is a rebadged Land Cruiser Prado, and the LX is a rebadged Land Cruiser.

Absolutely nothing wrong with that. Lexus is on its 3rd year as #1 in quality (JDP) by a significant margin over 2nd place.
Of course people don't care about that sort of thing..... unless it was Audi, the the term "German engineering" will be severely over used

I think it would be a shorter answer if you asked for the reverse.
